About Chatjgc

Chatjgc exists because most people meet the legal system at a bad moment. A ticket on Highway 501. A summons in the mailbox. A phone call from a family member who's just been arrested. The paperwork assumes you already know what an arraignment is, and the people who could explain it are busy or cost money by the hour.

We think you shouldn't need to speak legalese to ask a good legal question. So we write guides that start with the question a real person would ask, then explain how the process usually works in plain English.

Who it's for

Our readers are mostly in South Carolina, and many are in Horry County: Conway, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Carolina Forest, Socastee and Little River, plus Georgetown County down the coast. They include first-time legal clients, people preparing for a consultation, defendants, families helping someone through a case, small-business owners and consumers trying to make sense of a contract or a notice.

What we cover

The site is organized into six sections: legal questions, court process, legal terminology, criminal law basics, DUI, traffic cases. Every guide follows the same order: what the issue is, what information matters, what questions to ask, and when individualized legal advice becomes necessary.

How we write and check

  • We check rules, deadlines and court names against official sources, such as the South Carolina Code of Laws and the South Carolina Judicial Branch, and link to them.
  • We define legal terms the first time they appear.
  • We never promise outcomes, never assume an arrest means guilt and never tell anyone to skip court.
  • We date every article and update it when the law or a procedure changes.
  • We don't publish confidential client information, and we don't present ourselves as a court or a law firm.

Chatjgc is general information, not legal advice. If your question depends on your own facts, a licensed South Carolina attorney is the right person to ask. Spotted an error? Tell us on the contact page and we'll check it.
