The people who write the answers
Every guide on Chatjgc carries a byline, and every byline links to a page like the one below. We think readers deserve to know who's explaining the law to them and how that person approaches the work.
Our writers aren't acting as your lawyer, and they say so. Their job is narrower and, we think, just as useful: to take a legal situation that feels confusing and explain the general process clearly enough that you know what you understand, what you still need to ask and which questions need a licensed attorney.
Right now, the guides are written under one name. Daniel Mercer is a disclosed editorial pen name used by the Chatjgc content team. We use a single consistent voice so readers get the same structure every time: the question first, the short answer next, then what happens next and where to confirm it. The pen name is disclosed here and on every author box because we'd rather be upfront than let anyone assume otherwise.
Want to suggest a question for a future guide? Send it through the contact page. We read every one, though we can't answer questions about individual cases.
